About the Project

Jones Sign fabricated and installed the Big Hoss TV at Texas Motor Speedway. Towering 12 stories high over the backstretch, it provides viewers with 20,633 square feet of HD imagery and is 79 percent larger than the video board at AT&T Stadium (11,520 square feet), home of the Dallas Cowboys.

The Challenge

The sheer size of this video board was the challenge of this project. 12-stories high and located above and behind the stadium seating. The footing required for this structure was massive and needed to be planned well for the rebar mats to be installed correctly and samples of concrete to be tested by a third party. The steel structure needed to be plumb and level in all ways because once the LED modules were installed they had to be in exact registration.

The Solution

We decided to use modular construction to build the structure. We fabricated 10' x 54'' sections at our production facility, shipped, and assembled on-site by our own Jones team of installers. By ensuring the placement of the structure was exact, we knew that the LED modules would be in proper registration so the board could start broadcasting immediately. Panasonic complemented Jones because of the turnkey modular construction we provided.

The Result

The Big Hoss TV is highly visible, located directly in the center of the track backstretch. This project required extensive coordination with the video board supplier from beginning to end to achieve this impressive, finished product.
