While we have no current openings, here are some of the other positions that we have and what they entail:
Assembler
This job involves taking the signs after they are painted and putting them together. Each one is different so a variety of mechanical skills are needed but mostly a good eye and a commitment to quality is what it takes. No welding skills necessary. Also involves packing and loading the signs on our trailers for install or onto semi trucks for being shipped out. Forklift skills are necessary but can be taught. This is an entry level position and a great way to learn the sign business from the ground floor up. Successful assemblers can go on to be fabricators or installers.
Letter Fabricator
Very similar to sign fabricator but working with lighter materials in fabricating lit and non lit letters. Welding skills are not necessary. Pay range is $9 to $15 per hour depending on skill and productivity.
Painter
This work is prepping and spray painting the sign cabinets and poles we make. It is similar to automotive grade painting as the signs are a finished product. Some of the substructures do get painted to an industrial grade finish. Experience in painting is required for this work. Pay range is $10 to $20 per hour depending on skill level and productivity.
Sign Installer
Works in the field at various job sites installing signs on storefronts as well as free standing signs. Operates a crane truck. Uses various hand tools and power tools. Hires subcontractors to dig foundations and pour concrete. Must be able to weld, must hold a Class A CDL, must have successfully worked at heights up to 100 feet in the past, must be willing to travel overnight up to 100 days per year and must have worked outdoors for at least 12 straight months. Installers usually work as an assistant to an experienced sign installer for up to 2 years before being promoted to crew leader unless they have worked as a sign installer elsewhere. This is hard, physically demanding work. It also pays very well with a lot of overtime. We travel all over the country and it does offer some chance to see other cities after the work day has ended.
Sign Fabricator
This is sheet metal fabrication working in our shop. Working from designs and prints, the fabricator makes sign frames out of steel and aluminum and fabricates poles and pole covers. Experience in welding is required as well as a strong working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication. The work is in a modern, clean and safe environment. It is interesting work with little repetition. Many of Jones fabricators have been here for many years and they provide a lot of advice and guidance on how to best go about intricate work. Requires lifting up to 80 lbs. Pay range is $15 to $23 per hour depending on skill and productivity. Sign experience not required.
Project Manager
PMs handle national accounts and major projects from the time they are sold until the project is completed. They get permits and variances. They shepherd the job through design, fabrication and installation. They hire installers if we don't install the signs with our own crews, and coordinate timelines with other trades such as electricians, masons and roofers. PMs constantly communicate with customers and general contractors to make our work dovetail with the overall project. This job requires a very organized individual with very strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to negotiate and the ability to think. Results are rewarded. 100% customer retention is the goal. Project Manager background is required. Some travel for variances and job site visits is required. Pay range is variable depending upon experience. Work is assigned based on its perceived complexity and value to the proper level of PM.
CNC Router Programmer
Responsible for setup and operation of CNC routers and other CNC equipmemt used in the custom sign manufacturing process.
Purchasing Manager
Under general direction, plans, organizes, and directs the Company's purchasing activities; establishes policies and procedures for the buying of supplies, materials and performs related duties as required. Minimum five years experience. Salary based on experience.

Quality Control Specialist
Monitor conformance with designs/prints/specifications as well as industry standards for all products manufactured at our De Pere plant. Minimum 5 years experience in a custom manufacturing environment. Salary to $45,000 with full benefits. Growing company with many opportunities.
Estimator
Develops prices for various signs using information gathered by salespersons. Prefer an individual with estimating experience. Ability to look at a design and break it down into a list of component parts and the work steps necessary to make the sign along with the hours for each operation. Computer excellence is necessary. Good communication skills are required. This is a fast-paced job. Nice office environment. Interact with sales, production, purchasing and vendors. Salary is commensurate with experience. Ranges from $35,000 to $42,000 annually plus full benefits.
Service Technician
Uses bucket truck to access and repair the lighting on signs. Usually works alone, and primarily in the Green Bay to Fox Valley area with some trips beyond. Experience working outdoors, at heights and with wiring is valued. Experience is preferred but will train someone with a strong interest in this type of work. Good pay.
Business Generalist
This is a new position involving drafting agreements, analyzing contracts, drafting policies, negotiating change orders. Ideal candidate would possess an MBA or JD and have strong writing skills. Salary range to $70K, full benefits, growing organization.
National Service Specialist
National Service Specialist services our national accounts. Coordinates with customers, subcontractors and production staff. Applicants must be detail-oriented, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to solve problems. Other duties include inside sales and assisting the estimating department.
Vacuum Forming Department Manager
To set up and run this department to vacuum form sign faces. Will select equipment and employees and be in complete charge of this department which does not presently exist. Obviously vast experience in this field is required. Pay is negotiable.
Designer
Prepares original sign designs from information given to him by salesmen. Typically, the salesman has an idea of what type of sign is wanted, size limitations imposed by ordinances and the physical dimensions of the property and the building front along with the company’s logo, letter style and colors. If the building exists, the salesman provides digital and 35mm pictures of the building and surrounding area. He also gives information as to budget and what others are proposing. 4 hours are budgeted per client for this – if time allows, the sign is superimposed to scale on the digital picture to represent how the finished product will look and an option or two is shown. There are senior designers, designers and draftsmen/detailers. The pay range varies with experience.
Draftsman/Designer
Draftsman duties entail turning sold graphic designs into detailed shop drawings telling fabricators how to build the signs. Fabrication details are obtained from talking to the people here who have done the work for a long time and from our library of previous shop drawings. Designer duties involve producing graphic layouts and ideas from information and photos gathered by salespeople. Work with CorelDraw and Solidworks. This is a fast paced position with some time also given to doing original designs, cutting and laying vinyl and programming a CAD-CAM machine. Related experience a big plus. Successful candidates have a high IQ, are very computer literate, have done drafting/detailing and have outstanding communication abilities. Pay is $12 to $22 per hour depending on experience and skill level.
Human Resources Generalist
This person coordinates with management to determine staffing needs, writes job descriptions, places advertisements, interviews prospective candidates, conducts or coordinates background checks and testing, makes offers and completes new hire paperwork. Other duties include recordkeeping, terminations, exit interviews and benefits administration. Salary $30-35K.
Sales Manager
Hires, trains and supervises the work of up to 10 sales people working on selling sign projects in the Midwest. This group focuses on opportunities in the “local/regional” market which consists of Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, Northern Illinois and the eastern portion of Minnesota. Currently this group has three sales people. [other sales groups in the company are national accounts, architectural projects and billboards – there are 14 sales people total]. Ideal candidate would be a mature individual with 5 years or more of successful sales management of reps selling large ticket, custom, business to business products. Sign industry experience helpful but not required. Compensation is salary plus bonus based on the increase in sales by the group. There is no commission paid on any sales made personally by the sales manager. Full benefit and expense package is included. The salary ranges to $70,000. The bonus is 1% of the increased sales from the year prior to the manager starting and is unlimited. Reports to Executive Vice President.

Purchasing - Commodities and Logistics
Create and implement programs to source aluminum, steel, plastic, electrical components as well as trucking/logistics. Minimum of 5 years experience in this field within a manufacturing environment. Reports to purchasing manager. Salary plus full benefits.

Neon Technician
Bends glass using flames and patterns. Experience is valued in this department but we will train someone who is committed to learning the craft. Beginners pump glass, weld on electrodes, make patterns, rack glass. Interesting work but is a precision craft. Pay is commensurate with experience.
Vinyl Applicator
Takes computer cut vinyl and adheres it to sign faces. These can be table top work to giant signs out in the field. Fast paced work environment, relatively easy craft to learn. Advancements to vinyl cutting position are possible. Pay starts at $9 an hour for a beginner.
Permit Coordinator
Interesting work investigating the requirements to obtain a sign permit in jurisdictions nationwide, figuring out what the local ordinance will allow, communicating the info to our designers and sales people and then getting the permit. Often requires getting a license for the company in that area. Since the work is done by phone, outstanding communication skills are necessary. The ideal candidate will have high intelligence, experience in dealing with bureaucracies and be very organized. Patience and persistence are prized. Very much a challenging job but certainly not dull. Pay range starts at $31,000 and goes to $42,000 depending upon productivity, skills and experience. Permanent, full time position with benefits.
Associate Project Manager
Assist Project Managers in a number of ways including obtaining permits and variances, shepherding the job through design, fabrication and installation, hiring installers if needed, and coordinating timelines with other trades such as electricians, masons and roofers. Communicate with customers, general contractors and subcontractors to make our work dovetail with the overall project. This job requires a very organized individual with very strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to negotiate and the ability to think. Results are rewarded. 100% customer retention is the goal. Business-to-business customer service background is preferred. Some travel for variances and job site visits is required. Pay range is variable depending upon experience. Opportunity to advance to Project Manager.
Executive Secretary
Supports several executives by keeping them organized, composing letters from verbal outlines, making travel plans, entering work orders, sketch requests, estimate requests, etc. Varies greatly day to day. Must have professional level writing ability, good organizational skills, be proficient with Word, Excel and the Internet and have worked in this capacity in a growing, fast-paced company. Pay commensurate with experience. The person hired tends to be either fired or worshipped within 90 days depending on performance. There is no middle ground in this job. The timid need not apply.
Staff Accountant
Variety of daily challenges including preparing financial statements, job costing, analysis of estimate versus costs, invoicing, collections, expense postings, some HR type work, advising management, devising custom reports. Qualifications: experience in a job cost environment, worked in a similar sized business, well-versed in Excel software, at least 10 years experience in accounting, good interpersonal skills, ability to write well, experience with SyteLine software a plus.
Sandblasting Department Manager
To set up and run this department to sandblast signs and miscellaneous products. Will decide on equipment and employees and be in charge of this department which does not presently exist but has in the past. Experience required, pay is negotiable.
Billboard Traffic Manager
Writes contracts, updates databases, enters work orders, gets artwork approved by clients, enters service orders, organizes records for the billboard department. This is a fast-paced job. The successful applicant should have very good verbal skills, good phone skills, be highly organized, be very proficient with Word, Excel and the Internet. This position does not involve selling, but there is some contact with customers after the sale to get details. Pay is commensurate with experience. This could be structured as a half-time job or it could be a full-time job with the rest of the time being spent helping with data entry in bookkeeping or acting as a backup receptionist.
